Congratulations to our Graduating Children

The Bengali Association of Pittsburgh congratulates the following children of our community

Roosha Mandal is graduating from Mt. Lebanon Senior High School.
She will join Carnegie Mellon University this fall in the Science and Humanities Scholar program.

Arjun Kar from CMU with Dual degree in Physics and Computer Science
He Will join University of Pennsylvania for PhD in Physics

Moujhuri Sau from Wheeling Park High School, WV, going to Pennsylvania State University Engineering school.

Akanksha Mazumdar from Sewickley Academy going to Virginia Tech University Engineering school.

Biprateep Sheelobhadro Kundu from North Allegheny Senior High School going to CMU Engineering School.

Lionel Gumireddy from North Allegheny Senior High School going to Air Force Academy

Ananya Cleetus going to UI Urbana Champagne, Computer Science

Debmallo Shayon Ghosh, son of Susmita and Kunal Ghosh, graduated in May, 2015 from New York University School of Law. Shayon will be working for a year in San Jose, CA, as a clerk for Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal. He will be joining a law firm in New York in 2016.

Alimpon Rik Sinha, son of Asish and Nidrita Sinha, completed Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon Univ in 2015. He will be joining Microsoft in July and moving to Seattle.

The Bengali Association of Pittsburgh invites you to join the Annual Picnic on Aug 23rd 2015 12 PM at Buffalo Inn, South Park. Please join for a day of food, fun, games and gossip. We encourage you to invite your friends and parents if they are visiting in town. We will be organizing a Back to School fundraising program for Homeless Children’s Education Fund, so we encourage you to donate any school supplies generously. We all hope to see you there and make the event a grand success.

This year we will be celebrating Durga Puja on October 17th and 18th at the Hindu Jain Temple. Come join us with your family and friends to have the blessings of Ma Durga and participate in two days of Puja, Anjali, Prasad, food, dhunuchi naach, cultural programs and numerous other fun filled activities. We encourage you to bring your friends, colleagues and relatives and have everybody experience the Bengali culture and participate in our biggest celebration of the year. Let us all come together and immerse ourselves in the festive worship of Ma Durga.

Durga Puja Saturday only (*): Single: $35, Family of 2 $60, Family of 2 + children: $65, Student/Post doc Single: $20, Student/Post doc Family: $35
Durga Puja Sunday only (*): Single: $25, Family of 2 $40, Family of 2 + children: $40, Student/Post doc Single: $12, Student/Post doc Family: $20
Durga Puja both days (*): Single: $50, Family of 2 $80, Family of 2 + children: $85, Student/Post doc Single: $25, Student/Post doc Family: $45
* Kindly note that the rate above is for BAP members. Non-members are requested to pay $10 extra per event. The Annual membership is valid for one year and once you pay the membership fee you can enjoy the event membership rate for rest of the year. The membership fee is $15 per household.

Shruti Natok - Operation Yamraj by Kabi Basu

A corrupt minister from India, after his death, has a hilarious encounter with Yamraj (God of death in Hindu mythology) and his assistants. This satirical Bengal play provides a comical sketch of the greedy and corrupt minister's experiences and adventures in Yamalaya (mythical land of death) and how he finally settles the account for his earthly sins.
